Adopted in 1942, the AAF Mechanic's Cap, Type A-3 was the U.S. military's first work cap, and its baseball cap shape became the prototype for subsequent U.S. military field/work caps. The tough and Yankee "A-3 Cap" is an item that was used not only by mechanics but also by many pilots and crews.
