It is finished with an electrodeposition print based on the vintage colored flocks that Gerard has collected for many years.
Since 2024 is the Year of the Dragon, we adopted a design with a dragon motif. The logo design resembles a college sports team, and an illustration of Sukajan's dragon head is expressed using a technique called flocky (flock print). This design has been carefully modified from the illustration stage to intentionally create the aged, cracked effect of vintage flocked prints.
With regular screen printing, multiple sheets can be printed at the same time on one line, but with this print, mature craftsmen print each sheet by hand. Since it is not a mass-produced machine, it takes many times more time than usual, and it also takes time to clean before and after work and set up the equipment, so there is no place that can print using this method.
The body is knitted using an old-fashioned Azuma knitting machine with a round body (no side hooks). An old-fashioned knitting machine called the Azuma knitting machine produces fleece that is characterized by its vintage feel and lightness. This knitting machine is one of the knitting machines from the 1970s, when the loop knitting machine was replaced by an innovative knitting machine, and is a rare knitting machine with only a few in existence.
Because it is knitted slowly, there are only a few pieces produced each day, so you can enjoy the texture of a loop knitting machine, which has an uneven surface and a fluffy texture.
Regarding napping, if it is an open fabric, the napping can be done in one process, but in the case of round napping, the circle is aligned with the flat surface, and the napping is done on 4 sides, and the work is done all around. Because of this, it simply takes four times as much effort. Finished with brushed ends before dyeing.
Most of the sewing is done with two needles, following the vintage style, but the cuffs are made with circular knit ribs, and the cuff ribs are made with one stitch from the two needles used for sewing under the armpits.
We have reproduced a piece that is difficult to obtain in vintage clothing that reproduces the sewing as it was at the time.
