HEADLIGHT is a brand of Learned Carter that began in the early 1900s and existed until the 1960s.
Unusually for the time, HEADLIGHT produced everything in-house, from weaving the fabric to sewing, demonstrating the brand's commitment to its products.
As the labels and flasher trademarks indicate, HEADLIGHT was a favorite supplier to railroad workers and engineers.
Still highly sought after among collectors today, this rare and difficult-to-obtain item is being brought back to life in the modern era.
This is a reproduction of a double-breasted coat that was featured in a Headlight advertisement from 1925, exactly 100 years ago.
It has never been seen in documents from later periods, making it a rare piece with almost no existing examples.
The double-breasted coat has deep seams and 10 change buttons to protect against the intrusion of coal, mud, snow, etc.
The sleeves are large "gauntlet cuffs" with two buttonholes and three tuck buttons, a style typical of railroaders.
The length is longer than a regular coat, and the large inner pockets are placed low.
