[STUDIO D'ARTISAN "8188" Loopwheel Sweatshirt]
This sweatshirt was created in collaboration with a factory in Wakayama Prefecture, the only place in the world still operating the loopwheel knitting machines that were used to knit vintage sweatshirts, preserving the quality of that time.
The fabric is slowly knitted on this valuable loopwheel knitting machine, and the machine and thread are suspended from the ceiling, utilising the weight of the thread and fabric itself. This slow process, without applying any unnecessary tension to the fabric, creates a unique texture with just the right amount of unevenness, as if air has been knitted into the fabric.
With a focus on vintage specifications such as twin-needle single-stroke stitching and circular knit needle-punched ribbing, this piece is as if a product from that time has been brought back to life in the present day, transcending time.
Though the fabric is thick, it is incredibly soft and fluffy to wear, and many people become addicted to it after just one try.
The silhouette is not oversized like vintage sweatshirts, but is tailored to modern needs, making it sized for everyday wear around town. This item is soft and warm when worn as an inner layer, and the fabric has a presence when worn as a top layer.
