STUDIO D'ARTISAN.
This Osaka-based brand, whose name means "artisan's workshop," has released a variety of items since its debut in 1979.
It is a pioneering manufacturer of replica jeans, and is so particular about its natural indigo dyeing process that it distinguishes between "natural indigo denim," which fades slowly and deeply, and "pure indigo denim," which has a clear contrast between light and dark shades.
At the same time, it continues to captivate fans with its humorous items featuring a "pig" character.
The warp threads are dyed using the Awa Shoai dyeing method, a traditional Japanese technique that the world is proud of.
Because it is impossible to achieve a deep color in one go, the artisans repeatedly perform the processes of "dyeing," "squeezing," and "drying."
Through this meticulous process, a deep, rich color with depth is gradually created.
The weft threads are hand-dyed using the "persimmon tannin dyeing" method.
Hand-dyed threads are thicker than machine-dyed threads, creating a unique uneven texture, resulting in a fabric with a distinctive unevenness that sets it apart from ordinary 15oz denim.
