[STUDIO D'ARTISAN "D4677" 16oz WWⅡ Denim Jacket]
In the early 1940s, amidst World War II, the United States needed to concentrate national resources on the war effort.
As part of this initiative, the War Production Board imposed strict regulations on the manufacture of civilian consumer goods, including clothing.
Materials such as cotton and metal components (rivets, buttons, etc.) were prioritized for military use, significantly impacting workwear, including jeans and denim jackets.
Under the Board's directives, details deemed non-essential or luxurious were eliminated: proprietary tack buttons were replaced with off-the-shelf alternatives, the number of front tack buttons was reduced from five to four, and features like chest pocket flaps and buttons were omitted.
Consequently, the construction of denim jackets was drastically simplified to meet wartime standards, resulting in a rugged, utilitarian design.
Furthermore, with many skilled sewing workers mobilized for military production, it was common for less experienced laborers to staff workwear manufacturing lines.
This often led to rough sewing quality—characterized by uneven stitching and irregularities—yet because even re-sewing was restricted, these imperfect garments were shipped as finished products.
Drawing on this wartime context, we have meticulously recreated the era's rough, utilitarian sewing specifications and simplified details.
We intentionally reproduced asymmetrical stitching and structural "imperfections," while infusing the 16.0oz selvedge denim—developed specifically for this jacket—with a dull, oxidized indigo hue and the coarse texture characteristic of the period.
Iron "Laurel Leaf" tack buttons were used, allowing for the development of natural rust as the garment ages. We have also incorporated the "T-back" detail—a popular feature originally found only on larger sizes due to fabric width limitations—across the entire size range, allowing you to enjoy the authentic details of the "War Model" in your perfect fit.
We invite you to experience the "War Model" as uniquely interpreted by D'Artisan.

※Notes※
- Metal fittings such as buttons, rivets, zippers, and buckles may injure the body or other objects, so please handle with care.
- Because denim is woven on old-fashioned power looms, there may be unevenness, small scratches, or balls in the fabric. However, these are not defective products but genuine products, so please understand that we cannot accept exchanges or returns.
- Jeans may have creases. These may be creases from storage at our store, or from storage by the manufacturer, but in any case, creases from folding are not defective products but genuine products, so please understand that we cannot accept exchanges or returns.
- Denim may transfer color, so please be careful when washing and what you wear with it.
