SUGAR CANE Super “Denim” Collectibles
SUGAR CANE Super “Denim” Collectibles is a new label launched by Sugar Cane’s Yuichi Fukutomi, who has brought together denim specialists.
Commonly known as “SCSC”. This time, we have invited Shigeki Wakiya, one of the world’s leading vintage denim collectors, to perfectly reproduce the “individuality” of these precious items based on super vintage deadstock and golden sizes that are now so valuable that they are almost impossible to obtain.
In the first collection, we will generously release four super vintage “war models” that are currently attracting the most attention in the vintage market.
Because they are based on deadstock vintage items that have not even been washed, we can analyze in more detail than ever before the oxidized indigo color with the starch remaining and the spinning of the warp and weft threads used, and the fabric has a finish that is indistinguishable from vintage at a glance.
The parts are made to have the texture of aging in deadstock condition. For the first time in this project, we have adopted a two-needle iron buckle, which we have avoided for safety reasons. As for the sewing, we have reproduced the uneven stitching, not only the thread count and sewing machine pitch, but also the distorted stitching that is not uniform in width.
This is a denim blouse from the late war, 1945 model, which has simplified details, military-use donut buttons, and plain iron rivets, which are characteristics that seem to symbolize the "war model".
The original vintage is one-wash, size 46 inches, in excellent mint condition.
In addition, we have reproduced the T-BACK specification, which is very popular in the vintage market. The box stitching on the pleats is quite small, and while war models are generally recognized as all-yellow stitching, this work also uses orange stitching in some parts.
The buckle is made exclusively for the late war type. The uneven and rough denim has a different charm from the previous 1943 model.
The texture of the collar and the thick cuffs are unique, and the overall size is slightly smaller than that of the war period.
The design has also been simplified, with the number of buttons on the front reduced from the usual five to four, and the chest pocket flap omitted.
And perhaps due to a lack of skilled workers, the stitching was very rough, with the height of the box stitches shifting from side to side and the width of the stitches being uneven, but even these parts have been reproduced in detail.
The buckle back of the deadstock has been cut, but after examining several similar down patch jackets, a silver chrome lily buckle has been adopted.
