It was 150 years ago, on May 20, 1873, that Levi Strauss & Co. obtained a patent for "a method of using metal rivets to reinforce pockets on clothing."
A year later, on August 25, 1874, Greenebaum Brothers, also based in San Francisco, obtained a patent for reinforcing stress points with leather.
Until the rivet patent expired in the 1890s, Greenebaum Brothers' pants were supplied as durable workwear from the West to the Midwest, where mineral resource mining was booming.
Greenebaum Brothers will celebrate their 150th anniversary in 2024. They will create their original design, "Leatherbound Overalls," created in the 19th century, by recreating their original "Two by One Denim," which stands out from the rest.
The fabric is made of Warehouse's original selvedge light-ounce denim, woven on an old-fashioned power loom using 7.5-count cotton warp and 16-count cotton weft.
This light-ounce denim is based on the VINTAGE of the time.
The collar is a small design without a stand collar, and it is a 3-button pullover type jumper.
The buttons are original metal buttons. There is a deep pocket on the left chest, and both ends are reinforced with leather.
The back of the pocket is made of random hickory fabric. The slits on both hems and the cuts on the sleeves are also reinforced with leather.
It is a simple item that looks simpler, so it can be used with any pants.
It is a denim shirt that can be enjoyed because of the design from over 100 years ago.
