[WAREHOUSE "Lot.2239" 1950’s ARMY VARSITY JACKET Applique]
This West Point varsity jacket is made entirely of melton with felt lettering. The body is made of coarse black wool and is lined with rayon and cotton. It features US Army black melton with yellow striped ribbing. A varsity jacket worn by civil service academies that train elites is a highly valued garment in America. For West Point, the US Navy is their arch rival, with whom they have fought deadly battles since the early 20th century, including in football, with the motto "SINK NAVY, BEAT NAVY." The stronger the rivalry between the Army and Navy, who are considered arch rivals despite being from the same country, the more powerful a country must be.
