This belt is crafted from high-quality oiled leather, custom-made by "Tochigi Leather"—a tannery renowned in Japan for its exceptional craftsmanship.
The leather is produced from raw hides at least 4mm thick—a thickness increasingly difficult to source—which are then thoroughly infused with oil.
To ensure the vegetable tannins penetrate to the very core of the hide, the leather is soaked over an extended period, moving progressively through a series of tanning vats—from those with lower concentrations to those with higher concentrations. Finally, oil is applied in multiple stages to achieve a supple, flexible texture.
The resulting leather is durable and resistant to losing its shape; it is also highly absorbent, meaning that with continued use, it will conform precisely to your body, offering an excellent, personalized fit.
As you use the belt, the leather will develop a richer luster and a deeper, more nuanced character.
Scratches acquired over time, the natural, irregular creases inherent to the material, variations in color tone, and surface markings—all these elements evolve alongside your own personal experiences, transforming the belt into a one-of-a-kind piece.
Should the leather become wet—for instance, from rain—gently blot away the moisture with a soft cloth and allow it to air-dry in the shade.
Please note that because this is natural leather dyed with pigments, there is a risk of color transfer if it becomes wet.
The buckle is fashioned from a solid brass plate. Both the leather and the buckle possess a striking, substantial presence, making for a truly impressive belt.
