[BIG JOHN "M1011W" WW2 Model]
This pair of jeans was inspired by the vintage jeans of the store brand UNKNOWN, which were distributed in the United States in the 1940s.
Under the wartime system, material controls meant that the so-called "World War II models" featured simplified metal parts, rough fabric, and omitted sewing specifications, and have been reinterpreted and reconstructed from BIG JOHN's perspective.
At BIG JOHN, we disassemble parts of existing vintage jeans and thoroughly research the structure and texture of the materials at the time.
"What if BIG JOHN had manufactured jeans in the 1940s..." Based on that hypothesis, the M1011W WWII model is a product that faithfully and practically expresses this model using current technology.
denim
Made from 20% recycled cotton (re-spun non-standard yarns, cotton waste, and deadstock yarns generated at spinning factories).
Faithfully reproduces the fuzziness unique to short fibers, the rough texture created by neps, the dry feel, and the uneven surface.
The warp yarns are carefully starched and woven at high density on an old-fashioned shuttle loom with reduced tension, resulting in a new light-ounce denim with the same look and feel as vintage denim and a chewy texture.
Although it is 10 oz, it looks like a 13 oz jean, making it comfortable to wear even in the summer.
Silhouette
Classic regular straight cut with a deep rise.
The silhouette is a slightly chunky straight cut, but the rise is deeper, creating a waistline that is unique to high waist pants.
Details
Single-ear selvedge (a reproduction of the fabric-saving specification of the time) with iron one-star doughnut buttons.
Reproduces original details such as UFO concealed buttons (made of steel) and crotch rivets.
Of course, sewn with cotton thread and with a leather patch.
All details are based on the "rationality" and "practical beauty" of the time.
A design that carries on the lineage of store-style work jeans from the 1940s, which placed emphasis on functionality and durability over flashiness.
