The US Navy adopted the N-3 utility jacket in the early 1940s. With a simple design featuring one patch pocket on the chest and two on the waist, it has a nearly identical appearance to the P-41 adopted by the US Marine Corps around the same time. It can be identified by the "USN" or "USMC" markings on the chest pocket. The buttons are black-painted donut-shaped tuck buttons, as was used during World War II, and are engraved with a laurel wreath. The sleeves are single-piece, tubular, and can be adjusted using two tuck buttons at the cuffs. When World War II broke out and troop numbers increased, additional equipment production was rushed, and a jacket like the N-3, which was extremely simplified, was extremely well suited to mass production. The material and color are a perfect match for military denim.
