[BUZZ RICKSON'S "BR15123" COAT, U.S. Marine Corps M-1944 Herringbone]
This herringbone twill utility coat was adopted by the US Marine Corps in 1944. It has functional specifications, with large shoulder-to-chest pockets on both sides and an additional flap patch pocket on the left chest. The sleeves are made from a single piece and have minimal detailing, adjusting with a single iron button at the end. There is a gas flap on the inside of the front to prevent gas from entering, and the button on the back of the collar is for attaching and removing the gas protective hood. Herringbone is a durable material that also changes color over time. This utility coat, which has been recreated with attention to the texture and detail of herringbone, goes exceptionally well with jeans.
