This crewneck sweatshirt is a faithful reproduction of the earliest "Reverse Weave" model—originally developed in 1934 and patented in 1938.
The "Reverse Weave" method was devised by Sam Friedland, a salesperson with experience as a cutter at the venerable American menswear shop Hickey Freeman. After customers complained about shrinkage caused by washing, Friedland developed this technique through a process of trial and error to solve the issue.
By using the fabric horizontally rather than the standard vertical orientation, he successfully minimized shrinkage.
This reproduction faithfully recreates the original manufacturing methods, including the seamless shoulder construction—made from a single piece of fabric with no shoulder seams—and the pattern-making process derived from tubular sweatshirt bodies.
It also reproduces the original collar label, which did not yet feature the "Reverse Weave" branding.
Furthermore, it retains the original specification of omitting the "C" logo patch from the left sleeve.

It utilizes an "extra-heavyweight terry fleece" that replicates the fabric used in the original era.
