[JELADO "SG71428" Rebel Jacket Horse Hide Semi Aniline Finish]
We've created a new leather jacket, focusing on the materials to achieve a more vintage feel.
The base vintage piece is a 2 Star rider's jacket made by Wind Word, a brand of Montgomery Ward.
The original pattern was far too awkward to wear today, so we created a new pattern to suit modern styles.
This jacket has been a staple at JELADO for many years.
The newly developed material is approximately 1.6mm thick horsehide, tanned using a combination (chrome x tannin) process.
After chrome tanning, the solvent is washed off and then tanned again with tannin, bringing out the advantages of tannins and creating a material that has a moderate weight and develops a rich patina with wear.
The base coat is dyed light brown, and then black is sprayed on using the "hill dyeing" method at a long-established finishing factory in Tokyo.
This is what is known as "tea-core" leather.
This time, to achieve a deeper black, we used a semi-aniline finish, mixing pigment and dye in equal parts.
The dye that colors the base and the pigment that forms the topcoat match perfectly, resulting in beautiful aging and wear.
Unlike 100% pigment finishes, this leather has a softness that other finishes lack, and because of the thin coating, the base color will quickly show through with wear.
To create a simpler rider's jacket, we eliminated the epaulets and used black cupro lining instead of quilting, making it a leather jacket that can be worn even in spring.
Without the quilting, it has a less bulky, more stylish finish.

When trying on the item, if you bend the sleeves as shown in the photo, this will cause wrinkles from wear.
Please try on the item without bending the sleeves as much as possible.
