[LEVI'S VINTAGE CLOTHING "44501-0088" 501XX 1944 Model 501 JEANS (organic cotton)]
The 1944 model was forced to change every detail during World War II.
Due to wartime material savings, the U.S. government requested all clothing manufacturers to remove a certain amount of metal, fabric, and thread to simplify their products. We've eliminated the rivet, the cinch, and the two rivets around the cinch, saving both fabric and metal.
denim
The fabric used in Levi's vintage clothing is made by Kaihara, a leading denim manufacturer in Japan.
This time we renewed the fabric. It will be made with organic cotton.
One of the reasons for adopting organic cotton is one of Levi's environmentally friendly product development, which is common to all developments.
It is a fabric that realistically reproduces the texture of the rough denim manufactured by Cone Mills at that time with high Japanese technology. The reissue model of the 1944 501 uses denim with less fuzz. Denim woven with an old-fashioned shuttle machine is characterized by a width of about 27 to 29 inches and both ends sewn with red thread (red selvedge).
As the product is made using the fabric to the fullest extent, selvedge can be seen on the outer seam and the back of the watch pocket, creating a detail called red ear. This denim retains the original unevenness of the cotton yarn, so it is one of the attractions that the unique texture increases as you wear it.
I came to do color fading more sharply than before.
silhouette
The silhouette features a deep rise, and a classic regular straight with just the right amount of room.
It is a familiar silhouette for jeans fans.
detail
It is a detail unique to the simplified "Great War model" only during wartime. At that time, Levi's also cooperated with the US government's material control to save materials, eliminating the use of cloth and metal, and simplifying every detail.
In order to reproduce the shortage of supplies at that time, the stitch thread on the front body is a single color.
Button fly front. It is a top button using a commercially available inexpensive donut shape to save supplies.
Sleek has a striped pattern. The watch pocket rivets are also omitted.
A letter to the 501 owner in the left back pocket. A flasher and a guarantee ticket are attached to the right back pocket.
It is a symbolic arcuate stitch of the war model printed with paint. The more you wear it, the more the paint will peel off, and the more it will look.
Big E red tab without register mark. Uses a two-horse leather patch made of cowhide.
Red selvedge, commonly known as "red ear". Side split out seams that are easy to hit.
Hidden rivets, an epoch-making detail, are used to prevent damage to furniture and tools by covering them with fabric.
※Notes※
- Metal fittings such as buttons, rivets, zippers, and buckles may injure the body or other objects, so please handle with care.
- Because denim is woven on old-fashioned power looms, there may be unevenness, small scratches, or balls in the fabric. However, these are not defective products but genuine products, so please understand that we cannot accept exchanges or returns.
- Jeans may have creases. These may be creases from storage at our store, or from storage by the manufacturer, but in any case, creases from folding are not defective products but genuine products, so please understand that we cannot accept exchanges or returns.
- Denim may transfer color, so please be careful when washing and what you wear with it.
