The only loopwheeled knitting machine still in operation in the world is an old-fashioned knitting machine that knits fabric in a tubular shape.
Until the 1960s, cut-and-sew garments made using these machines were the mainstream worldwide. However, with a production efficiency of approximately 1 meter per hour, it gradually became an outdated technology as it was pushed aside by the wave of mass production and mass consumption.
However, as evidenced by the fact that T-shirts and sweatshirts from before the 1960s continue to maintain their high quality as vintage items, cut-and-sew garments knitted on loopwheeled machines possess a unique texture and overwhelming toughness that transcends time, something that cannot be achieved with the latest high-speed sinkers.
In recent years, its value has been re-evaluated, and like selvedge denim, loopwheeled knitting is recognized as one of the highest quality fabrics in the world.
