"GL3 Denim" is an original 15oz selvedge denim created using a unique Studio D'Artisan formula—meticulously designed down to the yarn's uneven texture, count, and warp/weft density—to fully harness the characteristics of the "GL3" power loom, originally built half a century ago by Toyota Industries.
Its appeal lies in a distinctive, uneven texture and a rugged, raw feel that cannot be replicated by the efficient, uniform mass-production methods of modern denim.
Jeans crafted from this exceptional denim are dyed using the traditional "Amami Mud Dyeing" technique, a heritage craft from Amami Oshima Island.
Each pair is carefully dyed by hand using the natural power of dyes derived from the native *Techigi* tree (Indian hawthorn) and iron-rich mud from geological strata dating back over 1.5 million years.
The result is a color characterized by a depth and warmth that can never be reproduced with synthetic dyes.
Silhouette
The silhouette is a regular straight fit.
It shares the same silhouette as the classic "SD-101" model, allowing you to enjoy the look of classic "XX" models and vintage denim.
Details
They feature original stamped copper rivets and, naturally, a leather patch.
This particular version is specially crafted using Amami Oshima mud-dyeing techniques.
The front features a button fly with original buttons.
The jeans are packed with meticulous details, such as an off-center belt loop and a label indicating the Amami mud-dyeing process.
Like the leather patch, the flasher also features a special design that evokes a distinctively Japanese aesthetic.
