Denim
The Toyota GL3 power loom, manufactured half a century ago, is one of Japan's earliest power looms. Because replacement parts are unavailable, maintenance requires retrieving parts from discarded identical machines.
Maintenance is labor-intensive, and it's an inefficient loom, weaving only 5 meters per hour.
However, denim woven on this GL3 possesses a ruggedness and rawness reminiscent of denim from half a century ago, making it a unique loom capable of expressing denim for workwear.
D'Artisan's standard SD-1000 series 'GL3 series' uses denim made according to D'Artisan's original recipe, maximizing the characteristics of the GL3. This includes the yarn's texture, yarn count, color, and warp/weft thread count.
It possesses a unique unevenness and roughness that cannot be achieved with modern, efficiently and uniformly produced denim.
This is a masterpiece achieved through repeated trial weaving without any compromise.
We've created an unbleached version of the GL3 series fabric, using yarn that hasn't been indigo-dyed, allowing you to enjoy the yarn's natural color.
These unbleached jeans offer a different look than indigo denim, and as you wear them, they become whiter, offering a new way to enjoy denim.
Silhouette
The silhouette is the most basic straight model in the D'Artisan lineup.
With a slightly higher rise and a relaxed fit similar to the XX type, it's a straight leg that suits any style and can be worn by anyone.
It uses the same cut as the classic SD-101.
Details
These jeans feature original copper rivets and an extra-thick goatskin patch.
The patch develops a unique character with wear. The front has a button fly, also an original design.
The distinctive selvedge allows for a different look when rolled up compared to other denim.
Other meticulous details include off-center belt loops.
