[SUGAR CANE "SC51947" 14.25oz Denim 1947 Model Shorts]
These shorts are crafted from Sugar Cane’s signature "1947 Model" denim, hemmed to a 10-inch inseam. They retain the exact same specifications—fabric, components, and construction—as the original 1947 model.
The denim is inspired by vintage jeans from the late 1940s, specifically capturing the era's characteristic deep indigo hue and the beautiful, clear blue tone that remains even after fading. To replicate this, the raw cotton properties and indigo composition were scientifically analyzed. A key appeal of this model is the rich, textured irregularity that emerges as the denim is worn in; this was achieved by intentionally varying the yarn thickness and weaving the fabric tightly on power looms. Furthermore, because the original model was produced during an era before manufacturing standards were unified, it featured unique details like the use of multiple thread types—nuances that have been faithfully reproduced here. With an uncompromising commitment to every stage of weaving, dyeing, and sewing, this denim encapsulates the full charm of the 1947 original.
The front features a button fly with iron buttons bearing the original brand engraving. Details include selvedge fabric at the coin pocket opening, reinforcement with punch-through copper rivets, and concealed rivets—all true to vintage specifications.
